About SoakedHome

A connection service that routes water-emergency requests to independent local specialists across Long Island. We do not carry out the work ourselves and we have no premises in the areas we cover.

The problem this exists to solve

Finding help during a water emergency is a bad time to be doing research. The water is moving, the damage is compounding by the hour, and the search results are dominated by national lead brokers who can sell your details to whoever is buying that day — none of whom know whether your street is on a sewer or a cesspool.

That last part matters more than it sounds. Across Suffolk County, NY the depth to groundwater ranges from about 4 ft to over 150 ft, and most areas are not sewered at all. Two houses twenty minutes apart can have entirely different failure modes, need different trades, and get the same generic page.

What we actually are

SoakedHome is a connection service, not a contractor. When you call, we match you with a local specialist who covers your area and handles that kind of work. We do not carry out the work ourselves, we have no premises in the areas we cover, and we do not add any charge on top of what the specialist quotes you.

The footer of every page says the specialists are independent, and the structured data search engines read says we have no premises, because a service that is vague about what it is usually has a reason.

How it works

  1. You call — tell us what is happening and roughly where.
  2. We match you to a specialist who covers that area and handles that trade. Which trade is often decided by whether the property is sewered.
  3. They contact you directly with availability and their own pricing. Everything after the introduction is between you and them.

Why we publish the measurements

Most of what decides a household's water risk is public and measurable, and almost none of it reaches the homeowner. We measure it for all 155 areas we cover — groundwater depth, sewer district coverage, flood-zone share over developed land, housing age, soil drainage, evacuation zone — from USGS, FEMA, the US Census, the EPA and county records.

Then we publish it, with the method and the limits. Every area page links to the FEMA map and Census profile for that area so you can check us. Where a source has no answer we publish nothing rather than an estimate, and where we know a figure is unresolved the page says so outright — in three villages the sewer system is village-run and missing from the county records, and each of those pages says we cannot state how much of the village it serves.

The specialists we connect you with

The specialist who answers is an independent local business — not our employee, and not a SoakedHome crew. We route your call to someone who covers your area and handles that kind of work. What they charge, when they arrive and how they work is theirs to set.

Their pricing is their own and comes to you directly. We never add a margin to it, and we do not take a position on their quote — if it looks wrong to you, get another one.

What we do not claim. We do not inspect their vans, audit their work or hold them to a standard of our own, and we will not tell you we have. What we would do in your position: before any work starts, ask for a license number and a written price. Suffolk County's Department of Labor, Licensing & Consumer Affairs licenses home-improvement contractors and lets you check one (Southampton, East Hampton and Shelter Island license their own), and any established trade expects to be asked.

How we are paid

We are paid a referral fee by the specialist we connect you to. You pay nothing for the introduction, and nothing is added to the price the specialist quotes you. That fee is the only way this site earns anything.

We said above that the search results for a water emergency are dominated by lead brokers who sell your details to whoever is buying. We are paid for connecting you to a specialist, so the distinction matters and we would rather draw it ourselves: your call is connected to one local specialist who covers your area, and your details are not resold. To find that specialist we check availability with the referral network first, which the privacy policy describes. If that distinction ever stops being true, this paragraph is the one that should change.

What it does not affect: the measurements. The figures on every area page come from public sources and are published with their method and their limits, including where they are unresolved. No specialist pays to appear, to rank higher, or to have an area described a particular way, and nothing on this site is ordered by what it pays.

Who runs this

SoakedHome is operated by Innovasurge, LLC, a company registered in New York. Innovasurge, LLC is the party responsible for this site and for the data published on it, and is who to come to if something here is wrong.

We are not a licensed trade and we do not present ourselves as one. Nobody here is a plumber, a restoration contractor or an engineer, and no page on this site offers an opinion that requires being any of those. What we do is measure what is public, publish it with its limits, and connect you to someone who does the work.
